Angela Miller originally considered a nursing career because she likes helping people, but opted for accounting instead, after realizing that she could make a similar impact. She started working as a secretary at a CPA firm and went on to attain a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of North Florida. She spent eight years at her prior firm before joining Ross Hughes in June 2014. Angela enjoys the challenge of having something different to do every day, and assists clients with taxes, payroll and bookkeeping. There is always something different about each client and their tax situation.

A mother of two children, son Seth and daughter Natalie, she enjoys spending time with family when away from the office. Sometimes she even enjoys going hunting with her husband. She is active in her church and her son's Boy Scout Troop 26.

Angela joined Ross Hughes and Associates in June of 2014. She works with the firm's clients helping with bookkeeping and tax preparation responsibilities as well as payroll functions. She assists clients with questions ranging from handling their QuickBooks database to accounting, tax and payroll questions that come up daily. Angela is truly a team player and does not hesitate and jump in wherever she is needed to get the clients work back to the client in a timely fashion. She also believes learning is a lifetime endeavor and is continuing her formal education working on her Masters of Accountancy from the University of North Florida.

Prior to joining Ross Hughes and Associates, Angela spent eight years working for Brooks and Company, another outstanding CPA firm in the Jacksonville area. This is where Angela cut her teeth on accounting and tax and decided that this was the career for her. She started with Brooks and Company as a secretary and gradually took on more responsibilities as she learned bookkeeping and tax return preparation skills. While working full time with Brooks and Company, she entered the University of North Florida and received her Bachelors Degree in Accounting. She feels the practical experience she was receiving in the CPA firm enabled her to really grasp the academic and theoretical concepts in her undergraduate program.

When Brooks and Company merged with a larger CPA firm, Angela decided to work to pursue an opportunity in private industry. She went to work for a specialty parts distributor on the westside, serving as the office manager handling the accounting functions including; cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll as well as interacting with customers and procuring inventory. She believes this time was invaluable in helping her take what she learned in her roles in public accounting and complementing this experience with real life accounting for business transactions and managing the needs of customers, employees, vendors and business owners.

After graduating from high school (Magna Cum Laude) in Tallahassee, FL she moved to Jacksonville and entered FCCJ to pursue a career in nursing. During her time working on her Associates of Arts degree from FCCJ she became interested in business and decided to change her major. She went to work for Vystar Credit Union as a bank teller but then took some time off after her son was born. After careful consideration, she decided that business was where she wanted to be so she got a job in the accounting profession to continue her career.
